MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Purpose & Scope
Bucktown Assembly (“Assembly”) is a private fitness facility built on training excellence, mutual respect, and community accountability. This Member Code of Conduct (“Code”) establishes expectations for behavior, safety, and use of the facility. Compliance with this Code is a condition of membership and participation. It applies to:
All members
Drop-in participants
Guests
Anyone accessing the facility or participating in Assembly programs or events
2. Membership Eligibility & Good Standing
Assembly is an adult-only facility. No children or minors are permitted in the gym, locker room, or common areas at any time, unless explicitly authorized for a specific event or program. Members must maintain their accounts in good standing to access the gym. Accounts with failed payments, overdue balances, or billing issues may have access suspended until the account is made current. This policy applies regardless of booking status or prior attendance.
3. General Standards of Conduct
Assembly is built on shared effort, mutual respect, and training with intention. Be a good human. Members are expected to act like adults and good neighbors. Disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe behavior is not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to members:
Treating coaches, staff, and fellow members with respect
Following all posted rules and staff instructions
Conducting themselves in a way that supports a safe, welcoming training environment
4. Harassment, Discrimination & Safety
Assembly maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or inappropriate behavior. Any conduct that makes another member or staff person feel unsafe or uncomfortable may result in immediate action. Prohibited conduct includes:
Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
Unwanted physical contact
Sexual comments, advances, or behavior
Stalking, bullying, or repeated unwanted attention
Coaching, criticizing, or correcting others without invitation
5. Training, Classes & Coaching Authority
Members must follow all instructions given by coaches or staff.
Coaches have full authority during classes and may:
Modify workouts
Stop unsafe movements
Remove a participant from class if necessary
Headphones are not permitted during group classes.
Members are expected to be present, attentive, and engaged.
Outside trainers or coaches are not permitted within the gym.
6. Facility Use & Equipment Etiquette
Equipment must be used only as intended. Reckless or unsafe use is prohibited. Members are expected to:
Rerack weights after use
Wipe down equipment
Share equipment during busy periods
Avoid “camping” on stations or equipment
7. Locker Room, Bathrooms & Common Areas
Assembly provides a shared locker room and bathrooms for member use. Lockers are provided for convenience only and are not secure storage. Members must:
Keep the locker room and bathrooms tidy
Store bags and gear neatly
Keep floors clear to prevent tripping hazards
Place used towels in designated hampers
8. Personal Belongings & Liability
Members are responsible for their personal property at all times.
Use lockers and keep valuables secured
Assembly is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items
9. Recording, Photography & Privacy
Recording is permitted only in training areas and must be done respectfully. Assembly reserves the right to restrict or prohibit recording at any time, for any reason. The following are strictly prohibited:
Recording or photographing in the locker room or bathrooms
Recording individuals without consent when they are identifiable
10. Phones, Noise & Disruptive Behavior
Members must be mindful of shared space.
No loud phone or video calls on the gym floor
No headphones in group class
Phones should not disrupt classes, training, or other members
Excessive noise, interruptions, or distractions are not permitted
11. Substance Use & Prohibited Items
Members who appear impaired or unsafe may be denied entry or removed. The following are prohibited on the premises:
Illegal drugs
Alcohol
Weapons of any kind
Pets, except for members with documented service animals.
12. Guests & Access
All access credentials, including door codes, key fobs, or mobile app access, are issued to individual members only. Sharing access credentials with non-members or other members is prohibited and may result in immediate suspension or termination of membership without refund.
Guests must follow all policies and remain under the responsibility of the hosting member
Assembly reserves the right to limit or revoke guest privileges
13. Enforcement & Discipline
Discipline decisions are made at the sole discretion of Assembly. Serious violations may result in immediate termination without prior warning. Violations of this Code may result in:
Verbal warning
Written warning
Suspension of membership
Immediate termination of membership
14. Membership Pause
Members with Open Gym or Unlimited memberships may request a temporary membership freeze one (1) time per calendar year, for a maximum duration of up to two (2) consecutive months. This policy is intended to accommodate temporary life events or travel while maintaining fairness and consistency across the membership community.
Pause requests must be submitted in advance
Membership access is suspended during the pause period
Memberships automatically reactivate at the end of the approved pause period
Additional pauses, extensions, or retroactive pauses are not permitted
15. Termination & Refunds
Assembly reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for conduct deemed unsafe, disruptive, or inconsistent with community standards.
Memberships terminated for cause are not eligible for refunds
Termination does not release a member from any outstanding financial obligations
16. Late Cancellation & No-Show Fees
Assembly enforces late cancellation and no-show fees to ensure fair access to classes and respect for coach time and capacity. All applicable fees, timing, and cancellation windows are clearly displayed at the time of booking in our app. Members are responsible for reviewing and adhering to the booking and cancellation rules shown in the app.
Late Cancellations are defined by the cancellation window displayed in the Assembly booking app and are subject to a $15 fee
No-Shows are failures to attend a booked class without cancellation, are subject to a $25 fee, and are billed one (1) business day after the missed class
17. Right to Refuse Service
Assembly reserves the right to refuse service, deny access, or terminate participation at any time, at its sole discretion, in accordance with Illinois law.
18. Amendments & Updates
This Code may be updated from time to time.
The most current version will be made available on the website or upon request
Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updated policies
19. Acknowledgment
By joining or participating at Bucktown Assembly, members acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
